The Woodshop, 2003

Lyle
Opperman, of Baraboo, is shown here turning a chair spindle on the foot powered
wood lathe. Lyle has spent a lot of time working on getting the wood shop set up
and operational, and you have to see it in person to appreciate it. Thanks Lyle!

Jack
Rhodes, of Beaver Dam, is shown here working on building a door for the cupboard
in the background. Not only is Jack a well known and highly regarded collector
and restorer of early tractors, but an accomplished woodworker.

Wayne
Hatz, of Baraboo, WI is seen here working on making a replacement handle for one
of the hammers in his collection. Wayne is sitting on a "schnitzelbank" or
shaving horse.

Wheelwright
Warren Sveum can usually be found demonstrating the art of the wheelwright,
making and repairing wooden wheels for wagons, buggies and other horse drawn
implements. Wayne has been doing this work for a number of years, having learned
his trade from his father, Tom.

Just
outside the woodshop, we find Jim Hoefler, of Watertown, showing off his carving
skills as he carves a troll.
