2011 Steam School

When: September 23, 24, & 25, 2011


Where: Rock River Thresheree show grounds located between      Janesville, WI and Edgerton, WI.


Fee: $50 includes a textbook, the Steam Traction Engineers Checklist, the Case Steam Engine

Manual, donuts, coffee and lunch on Saturday & Sunday.

Details: The class is open to the first 50 people that register. Pre registration is required. There will be classroom discussion as well as hands-on with full size and model engines steamed up. Class topics include: Steam Theory, Steam Engine Components, Boiler Construction, Operation and Maintenance, Piping, Valves and Accessories, Firing under various loads, Handling an Engine, Boiler Water Treatment, and Emergency Procedures. This class is not intended to qualify you as an operator, but to give you the basic knowledge of steam engine operation and maintenance.

There will be an optional catered meal on Saturday night for $12.00. Guests are invited. Primitive camping is available on the show grounds, free of charge. Showers will also be available.
A.S.O.P.E. (American Society of Power Engineers) test will be offered, but not mandatory, after the school on Sunday at a cost of $55.
